Young soccer players in the Rockford area have a chance to not only learn the game of soccer this week, but learn it with an accent.
The Challenger British Soccer Camps are in Stillman Valley, coaching up close to 100 young players. These British Soccer camps take international players all over the United States. Four of those players are in Stillman Valley until Friday to lend their knowledge of the game and Stillman is one of 1,700 communities that the British soccer camps will be in this year and they hope to reach close to 80,000 players.
Both the students and coaches are having a great time. Camp Director David Thompson says, "They're great. If all the kids are like this throughout the summer then it will be great. They all just want to have fun and are so eager to learn and so enthusiastic. If you get that from any kid throughout the summer you can't ask for anymore. Just a great bunch of kids." Monroe Center student Tatum Glendenning says, ΒΆ"I like their accent and they help me learn a lot of things." Stillman Valley 6th grader Micah Robert says, "It's fun. The coaches are nice. They've been playing some games with us. They play some fun games."Labels: football news, news |
