WSU Selected as a Host for Baseball Regional
Wichita State has been selected as one of 16 regional sites for the 61st annual NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, June 1-4. It will be the first regional hosted by WSU since 2002 and the 10th overall.

The Shockers also hosted a regional in 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2002.

Fans will be able to purchase the best available all-session tickets for the regional starting at 5 p.m. on Sun., May 27, on www.goshockers.com. Wichita State season ticket holders have until 5 p.m., on Tue., May 29, to reserve their seats and are encouraged to purchase their tickets online or to fax in their invoice to (316) 978-4513.

The ticket office will be open on Mon., May 28 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and will open from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. the rest of the week. Individual tickets will go on sale on Thurs., May 31, at 9 a.m. Ticket prices are as follows:

The other 15 sites include Arizona State, Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, Florida State, Long Beach State, Missouri, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Rice, San Diego, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, and Virginia.

Coastal Carolina, Missouri, San Diego and Vanderbilt will host a regional for the first time, while Long Beach St., North Carolina and Virginia are hosting for the third time in school history. This will be the 26th time that Florida St. has hosted a regional, while Texas is hosting for the 23rd time and Arizona St. is hosting for the 17th time. South Carolina (11th) and Wichita St. (10th) are the only other institutions to host 10 or more times since the NCAA went to the regional format in 1975.

Rice and Texas A&M are hosting a regional for the sixth time, while Arkansas and Ole Miss are hosting for the fourth time. Long Beach St., North Carolina, Virginia are all hosting for the third time. Six sites (Arkansas, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Rice, Texas and Virginia) also hosted in 2006.

The remaining at-large teams, top-eight national seeds, first-round regional pairings and site assignments will be announced at 11:30 a.m. Central time, Monday, May 28, during a live, half-hour program on ESPN. The committee will set the entire 64-team bracket through both the super regionals and the first round of the Men’s College World Series, and will not reseed the field after play begins.
