It's time for the NBA to put away the ping-pong balls and end its weighted lottery system.
The lottery was established in 1984 to keep teams from tanking games to improve their draft positioning. But a number of coaches whose teams are out of the playoff race by March or earlier, give extensive minutes to their backups and rest a number of their top starters.
Also, coaches who have wrapped up playoff berths have the tendency to rest their starters if they have achieved their desired seedings.Labels: basketball, ticket |
