In ancient Greece, we'll win it eight times!
John Aldridge might have missed out on the chance to play for the Reds in Europe due to a ban on British clubs competing on the continent but if he had of done, he reckons the fans could well have been singing about winning it seven times in Istanbul! "I was talking about this recently saying just how fantastic that team was and how disappointing it is that we never got the chance to show Europe what we were capable of," claims Aldridge, a key player in King Kenny's electrifying side which lit up the English game with some of the greatest football this country has ever seen. "If we had, we'd all be talking about the six or seven European Cups Liverpool had already won, not just the five. But then, that's not a bad little haul is it!"Labels: football news |
