Manchester United have raised their bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves to a massive £23 million.

The Daily Mail says the Bundesliga outfit are stalling on a deal which will allow the midfielder to move to Old Trafford before the end of the month.

United boss Ferguson views Hargreaves as the final piece in the jigsaw as his team chase honours on both the European and domestic fronts.

He will provide the bite missing since the departure of Roy Keane to Celtic as United seek to win the Champions League and swipe the Premiership crown from Chelsea.
