United have been chasing the 25-year-old midfielder since last summer and their interest has not waned, despite both the rejections of Bayern officials and the player's broken leg. OWEN HARGREAVES On Friday, German newspaper Bild reported the news that United have made a £20million bid for the player but Bayern director-general Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has stuck to his stance that a January deal is "out of the question". However, Hargreaves is still hopeful that some kind of agreement can be found. "It's been official today that Manchester United have made an offer for me," he told the BBC. "For a club like Man United to make an offer is something I appreciate." "Manchester United have developed into such a talented team," he added. "They have got such a great nucleus when you look at Rio [Ferdinand] and Wazza [Wayne Rooney], and Cristiano Ronaldo is probably one of the best players in Europe at the moment." Despite this, Hargreaves conceded that, as he is contracted to Bayern until 2010, his future lies in the club's hands. "I can't really do much, it's not on my side," he said. "That's down to the club really for those things to be decided. I've got a contract and I'm focused on my half, which is football and playing well. We'll see what happens in the coming weeks and possibly months." |
