Former Bundesliga Coach Badly Injured By Uprooted Tree In Storm
|
Helmut Schulte, a former Bundesliga football coach who now is in charge of junior teams at Schalke 04, has been severely hurt during the storm which raged on Thursday across Germany.
Schalke on Friday confirmed a report of the Bild daily that an uprooted tree crashed onto Schulte's car and that the coach was rushed to the intensive care unit of a local hospital after being freed from the wreckage by firemen.
"All we know that he has been hurt very badly. We are in contact with the doctors bit don't know the exact nature of his injuries," Bild quoted Schulte's brother Manfred Schulte as saying.
Schulte coached three Bundesliga clubs in the late 1980s and early 1990s: St. Pauli Hamburg, Dynamo Dresden and Schalke.
The storm Thursday left 11 people dead in Germany, caused damage estimated at billions of euros and forced national railways to halt all operations for the first time in its history. |
